NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that a hearing will be held by the Thomasville City Planning and Zoning Commission in the Coun-cil Chambers, Municipal Building, Thomasvi l le, Georgia on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 5:30 PM.
SIGN ORDINANCE
The purpose and intent of this article is to establish standards for the fabrications, erections, use, maintenance and alteration of signs within the city. These standards are designed to pro-tect and promote the health, safety, and welfare of persons within the city by providing regu-lations which allow and encour-age creativity, effectiveness, and flexibility in the design and use of such devices while promoting traffic safety and avoiding an en-vironments that encourages visu-al blight.
The stands established by this article are designed to maintain the economic viability of busi-nesses in our comm unity through the availability of appropriate sig-nage as well as promote the effi-cient transfer of public and com-mercial information through sign management.
It is also the purpose of this art-icle to prohibit the future erection, placements, or location of port-able and certain other types of signs determined to be detriment-al to the aesthetic sense historic character and public health,safety, and general wel-fare of the city, both generally and as it particularly affects tour-ism.
All interested citizens are invited to examine the ordinance on file in the office of the Zoning Admin-istrator, 411 West Jackson St., Thomasville, Georgia 31792.
